Lakewood Colorado Lifestyle – A Scenic City West of Denver
Scenic Lakewood Colorado lies a step from Denver and reaches the foothills of the Rockies. Lakewood’s a 10- or 15-minute drive west of downtown Denver. Several major highways offer easy access, prompting Lakewood’s strong economy and active lifestyle.
Lakewood Begins with Fabulous Weather
Lakewood’s known for fabulous weather. It all started when wealthy people planned summer estates here, railroad tycoons among them. Careful planning of Lakewood real estate became enticing for more people. In the late 1890s, an electric tramway connected Lakewood, Denver, and Golden and newcomers arrived. In 2013 Lakewood rebuilt its 22 blocks downtown, calling it Bel Mar. And they built the mixed-use area green and walkable. Today, the Lakewood Colorado population has surpassed 156,000.
Parks and Recreations
The red rocks and mountain backdrop combined with lovely parks and golf courses add in a generous dose of nature. The 80 parks cover 7,191 acres or a quarter of the acreage in the City of Lakewood. Aside from the parks, Lakewood offers four large recreation centers where everyone of every age finds activities and lessons. In addition, you can play golf to your heart’s content at the Homestead and Fox Hollow public golf courses. Skiers also love coming to Lakewood. It’s only 45 minutes away from the slopes of the Loveland Ski Area.
